Allowing you to take the lead, offering support when needed.

Clinical Background

Hi! I’m Bethany (she/her). While completing my bachelor’s degree in K-12 Special Education at University of Lynchburg, I attended therapy myself. This transformative experience illuminated so much about myself and I wholeheartedly believe I am a different person because of it. While I loved my time working with students, I felt undeniably drawn to the mental health field.
While earning my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at University of Lynchburg, I served as the Family Services Coordinator at Roads to Recovery, an organization supporting individuals in recovery from substance use disorder and their loved ones. Beyond the clinical aspects of this role, I gained a deeper understanding of the complexities of addiction and how it connects to trauma, other mental health diagnoses and systemic issues.
In 2021, I moved to Richmond to complete my residency and gain more experience in private practice. Throughout this time, I discovered an interest in supporting clients as they process childhood trauma, religious trauma, and navigate boundary setting in relationships. In 2024, I was trained in EMDR and in 2025, I launched my very own private practice! It is an honor to be invited into someone's life to support them as they explore their thoughts and feelings. This role is a gift and one that I do not take lightly.

In my practice, I incorporate a variety of therapeutic techniques, including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Somatic Therapy, and mindfulness practices. I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). My approach is person-centered, which is based on the understanding that people are naturally driven towards their full potential when given a safe and accepting environment. We will work collaboratively together, allowing you to take the lead while offering support along the way.
