Personalized care specific to your needs

What to Expect

  • Complimentary Consultation

A risk free exploration to see if we are a good fit for one another. During this 15 minute phone call, I'll get a general understanding of your presenting concerns and symptoms. I can also answer any questions you may have about the therapeutic process.

  • Intake Appointment

Our first appointment will focus on introducing you to the therapy space, getting comfortable in conversation with one another, and developing goals for your treatment. Everyone is different in their comfort level during an intake appointment, so we will go at whatever pace feels best for you!

  • Ongoing Sessions

This continued care is personalized to your specific needs. Together, we will work through your treatment plan and adjust as needed. Sessions look a bit different for everyone, but I’ll check in with you along the way to make sure you’re feeling a balance of support and growth toward your goals.

“Part of getting to know yourself is to unknow yourself—to let go of the limiting stories you’ve told yourself about who you are so that you aren’t trapped by them, so you can live your life and not the story you’ve been telling yourself about your life.”

Fees

The cost of a therapy session reflects more than just the therapy hour. This fee includes session planning, tracking client progress, scheduling, and record keeping.

A limited amount of sliding scale sessions are available for individuals needing lower fees. Contact me directly to inquire about these time slots!

FAQs

  • A standard therapy session is 55 minutes. Frequency of sessions and length of treatment are specific to each client’s specific needs. We’ll explore this together and adjust based on your preferences, goals, and progress.

  • I am currently accepting clients ages 14 and up.

  • Online therapy is a great option for multiple people and circumstances. It is essentially the same as an in person appointment, but you can join from anywhere in the state of Virginia. You will receive a link prior to the session to a HIPPA secure platform. All that you need is a stable internet connection and a private space to meet.

  • Although I do not currently accept insurance, I can provide you with a superbill to submit to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement. This all depends on your out of network benefits and whether or not you’ve hit your deductible. If your insurance plan includes a HSA/FSA account, those funds can be used towards therapy services as well.

If financial concerns prohibit your ability to get therapy services, please contact me directly to inquire about sliding scale options.

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a therapeutic modality using bilateral stimulation via eye movements or physical tappers. EMDR therapy does not require talking in detail about a distressing issue, but rather focuses on changing the emotion, thought, or behavior associated with the memory. EMDR helps the brain resume it’s natural healing process that may have been disrupted in the past.

You will be fully in control throughout an EMDR session. I like to compare it to daydreaming: you may let your mind wander, but you are fully capable of bringing yourself back to the present at any point.

I am happy to answer any questions you may have about whether or not EMDR is a good fit for you.
